๐ Hello and welcome back to another week in Rosieland!
I've been putting this off for a while, but I now feel ready to create some more structured community education.
So I put together a course on Community Engagement. I enjoyed the process despite truly hating video, but I know it will get better and in time, I will get more comfy with it.
It's good enough, done and ready to go live on Thursday. ๐
And as part of this, I'm changing up the membership options on Rosieland. All existing paid members will get a free upgrade to access the top-tier membership.
I'm still making decisions on a lower-priced tier, but I've been doing this long enough to feel great about the work and research I do. I'm no longer in the mood to do anything for free.
My research, sharing and writing is a service that will help you think better about your community building efforts. These insights are only available in Rosieland.
Every link I share. Every insight I write. Every course I create will help you open your mind to what community building can be. It's time for me to be even more structured and intentional. And for people to see this as a service that is worth investing in.
I don't do big marketing campaigns, no countdowns. This is basically it.
I hope you'll upgrade your Rosieland Membership, it really does make a difference and enables me to continue doing the work I do.

โBook brigadeโ: US town forms human chain to move 9,100 books one-by-one | The Guardian
I love how people observed books as they passed through everyone's hands. It made me chuckle! ๐
โIt was a practical way to move the books, but it also was a way for everybody to have a part,โ Michelle Tuplin, the storeโs owner, said. โAs people passed the books along, they said โI have not read thisโ and โthatโs a good oneโ.โ
From once a year to every day: creating long term vitality from big events | Practice of Place
I love this short piece from a perspective of not trying to re-invent the whole wheel, but rather than look at something they had and seeking to make improvements. This is the wya.
๐ Community Courses are coming ๐
Current paid members get full access at today's price.
Upgrade by tomorrow the 23rd of April 2025 to lock in the current pricing.
How community listening and research inform The Lenfest Instituteโs work to serve the Philadelphia news ecosystem | The Lenfest Institue
I'm so inspired by the world of (local) journalism. They do so much community work without calling it as such. They also have such a great attitude towards listening and research. Honestly, community people could learn a thing or two from them. Of course, it's not cheap, and neither is our work.
Inside Exit Five: How We Doubled Community Growth in Under a Year (with Matt Carnevale) | ExitFive
Community growth stories feel more interesting these days, especially when so many aren't able to achieve it in this market. I've not listened to this yet, but I have it on my list.
I read โCareless People.โ Now I know why Mark Zuckerberg tried to ban the tell-all memoir | San Francisco Chronicle
This is a book that Meta is trying to stop from getting published. The best thing we can do is get it, read/listen to it and share it with your friends!
