We're starting a referral program at Ministry of Testing, we're calling it MoT Friends, but crucially, to pitch and communicate it, I'm using the win-win-win model I shared a few months back.

One of the hardest challenges of building community as a sustainable business at this scale is of the perception that 'community is free' or 'community is just for fun'.
We are a freemium community. We're a real mix of doing things for free alongside other things that generate revenue. A completely free community wouldn't work. A completely paid one wouldn't either. The balance is key.
Yes, we are a community. But we're also a business.
Yes, we love to have fun and be creative. But we're also super serious about creating change for the better.
Yes, we've been through a big transition in the past 18 months. The challenge we have now is to communicate the change that we mean business too.
Our goal with a referral program is for there to be 3x winners, hence the win-win-win. There aren't real winners if there are losers.
Of course, there is also the reality of life, and some may think that this is all wishful thinking, but I believe the world will be better off by having a caring philosophy. Not a careless one like Mark Zuckerberg.
I've never created a community referral program, learn with me as I go!
